Encyclopaedia of Jamaican Philately

In the 1990s Steve Jarvis and Derek Sutcliffe decided to embark on a project to document all know information regarding Jamaican philately. The motivation was the effort required to identify all existing published information and hence provide a foundation for further development.

It was recognized that this was a massive task that would need to be undertaken progressively, over many years. The British West Indies Study Circle agreed to publish the volumes in printed book form and three have appeared to date (as to 2008) - These can be obtained from www.pennymead.com.

The development of the internet provides new opportunities for disseminating this information and this web site will be enhanced over the coming years to complement the printed books and fulfill our vision. Unfortunately, Derek Sutcliffe died in 2008 but his research material has been preserved and will continue to be utilised.
