LOCATION OF DEPARTMENTS.



The General Post Office in Kingston is siluated in the Public Buildings, weet block,
King Street.
TB1l Circulation Branch, Money Order Office, and Telegraph Offices are maintained
at the north-west portion of the Public Buildings, King Street. The Control Branch
Md the Telegraph Office are on the first floor of the building. The Parcel Post Depart--
ment, includin!( the C.O.D. and Detained Packet Offices, is housed in the new
Government Buildings (formerly "Grace Building," No. 33 Olivier Place).
The official hours of the various departments arc as follows:-
KINGS'roN: General Post Office, Circulation branch, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Money and
Postal Order branches, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Parcel Post branch, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Telegraph
branch, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (1) Money Orders Officl' closes at 1 p.m., on Saturd~ys.
CouNTRY: All Post and Telegraph Offices, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

REGULATIONS.
(a) Letters.-No letter for delivery in Jamaica, except it be sent to or from a Govern·
ment Office, may exceed 2 feet in length 1 foot in width or 1 foot in depth, or if in the form
of a roU 30 inches in length and 4 inches in diameter. There is no limit of weight.

Letters, newspapers, book packeta, etc., which ure wholly unpaid will be liable to a
surcharge equal to double the prepaid rate; and, if they are insufficiently prepaid, to a
surcharge equa.l to double the deficiency.
(b) Post Cards.-Private post cards prepaid by mea.ns of halfpenny postage atampl
may be sent by the inland post on the following conditions:- They must not exceed
5i by 4t inches nor be less than 4 hy 2i inches. The right hand half of the face is rel! for the postal directions and address; the left hand half is available for the purpose sender, subject to the following restrictions:- In addition to stamps for prepayment po.t
cards may bear small labels showing the name.s and address of the sender and the addressee;
and engravings and photographs on very thm paper may be affi. hand half of the address side, provided that they are compMiely adherent. Newspaper
cu ttings may also be attached to the back and left hand half of the address side. A
post card must not be enclosed in a cover of any kind.

(2) No receipt is given for paroels sent under this scale, they are treoted as ordinary
letters and should be posted in the letter box.
