Jamaica Patriotic Labels
In November 1915 Mr Lewis Ashenheim, a solicitor in Kingston Jamaica founded a
charity the "Jamaica War Stamp League," a title which was changed in 1916 on the
issue of the official War stamps to the "Jamaica Patriotic Stamp League" and labels
were issued to support these charitable objects (The Charity Stamps by H. Cooke).

There are four different labels; the label without overprint issued on 1 t December

1915; the label overprinted "Jamaica" in red on 22 d December 1915; the label
overprinted "Jamaica" in black on l 5th January 1916; and the label overprinted
"Jamaica Half-Penny" in two lines in black on 1 lth March 1916 (Cooke). Displayed
above is the only known cover bearing all four issues of these labels (ex Swarbrick).
