Special attention is directed to the fact that the unit of
weight for Air Mail letters is the half ounce and not the ounce
a.s for steamer mail.
Letters intended for transmission by air must be fully pre ·
paid to the extent of the air fee. Thus: a lettrr wei~hinJJ: I~ oz.
addmssed to the United States, for which t.he conect postage is 2/2!
{ -1/10~ air fc<', plus 4d. regular postage), if prepaid 1/lOt would be
surcharged 8d. or 16 cents and be forwarded by air mnil, but if pre-
paid less than 1/10} it would not be forwarded by air hut b!t ·•lmmer.
