Latest Known Commercial Usage of Falls Stamp
Following the Jan. 1907 earthquake and fire which destroyed almost all of Kingston's
G.P.O. stamp supply (including the Llandovery Falls stamps), a number of stamps were
discovered in a safe. These have a GREYISH-GLAZED SURF ACE caused by the
intense heat. This is the first on cover usage that this exhibitor knows about!
MYRTLE BANK (Hotel) Post Office
The Myrtle Bank Hotel was in Kingston and a post office was in the hotel up to 1907.
The hotel was damaged in the '07 earthquake and re-opened in Feb 1910 with the p.o.
