Military Postal Markings
Although there was a civilian post office at Up Park Camp, an Army Post Office was established during the
Second World War (or possibly earlier). Two different temporary rubber datestamps are recorded from 1941 .

Airmail Cover from Up Park Camp to Winnipeg, Canada
Canadian troops replaced British troops in Jamaica in 1940, and this cover was sent by a Private in the
Winnipeg Grenadiers who served in Jamaica from 27th May 1940 to 13th September 1941. The cover bears a
strike of the Canadian Army "Y Force" military censorship handstamp (CAC3A; censor No.4) in red ink.

The cover was posted at Up Park Camp on 4th July, and the stamp is cancelled with the oval TRD reading
"Military Post I Up Park Camp" (PM2).
